Katherine Hillard

Katherine first appeared on the show as a spy for Empress Rita. She was a stray cat Aishia found. Aishia eventully made Kat her pet. But Aishia didn't know that Kat was no ordinary cat. Kat had been sent by Rita and had the ability to change into a human form .Early on Kat had a third monster form. This monster form was defeated by the Rangers (sending her back to her human for). Byut she was still able to change into a cat without the rangers knowing it.

Kat was very loyal to Rita and would serve her Empress faithfullly. She did however fall in love with Tommy. Even to the piont were she wanted to forcibly take Tommy's girlriend (Kimberly ) out of the picture. Rita orderd Kat to steal the pink power cion on a beach trip. Here we learned Kat was afraid of water( this would be important later). Kat managed to steal the pink coin, leaving Kim in danger( she was able to barrow power from thw othrr rangwrs to morph temporally). During a zord battle Kat used the pink power cion to enter the Falconzord and steal it for Zedd and Rita. The Rangers were now without their zords since the falcon zord controled the Ninja Zords. Around this time Kat started havin flash backs of herself as a kid. It turns out she was really just a normal human Rita captured and put a spell on. When the goodness in her started to show through Rita used her magic to make her stay evil. Rita set her sites on Kimberly as she weakened by the loss of her power cion (and busy training in gymnastics). It was Kat's job to help make sure Kim was kept busy.

But while completing her queen's plan Kat kept on having those flashbacks of het past. Eventually she was able to break the evils spell when she realized Kimberly was in danger. It was already too late as Kimberly was so tired she fell of the balence beam whle training. Kat was however able to get to her in time to call an ambulence. Kimberly was fine but didn't want to train anymore. Kat revealed the whole truth to Kim and the other Rangers. The Rangers quickly comforted her and told her it wasn't her fault because she was under a spell.

Rita and Zedd were not quite so forgiving as they dispatched a monster to retrieve Kat. The Rangers were able to use their new shotgun zords to defeat the monster and protect Kat. Zedd and Rita than ransomed Nijnor ( the Tangers captured ally) for Kat. Kat agreed to help the Rangers trick Rita and Zedd. Billy made a special machine to shield Kat from Rita and Zedd's forces. During the ensuing battle the machine got damaged and Kat was captured. Ninjor also remained in the custody of Rita and Zedd. Kat was placed in a interdemensional cell that was set to be overwhelmed by a mystical tidal wave. Which would leave Kat lost forever. Kat was able to trick Rito Revolto into given her the key to the cell. Before she escaped she found the Pink Power Coin. Once the Power Coin was in her hands the Command Center scans knew the Power Coin was in the hands of good again. This allowed Alpha to teleport Kat and the cion back to the Command Center. Kat was able to return the Pink Power Coin to Kimberly, who just got out of the hospital.

Kat revealed to Kimberly thats she was once a diver who competed in the Pan Am Global Games. She took a bad dive and got hurt really bad. She didn;t go diving or swimming since. To show Kimberly she could go back to gymastics Kat took a dive for the first time in years. This convinced Kimberly to go back to gymnastics and she one her competion. Kimberly was offered a chance to go to Florida to train for the Pan Am Global Games with her new coach ( who was a famous gymnastic coach). With encouragment from her friends Kimberly agreed to go and leave her duties as a Power Ranger. Kimberly selected Kat as her replacement and endowed her with Pink Ninja Powers.

Kat was relcutant top being a Ranger at first but did here best to try and take Kim's place. She soon found that all of Kim's powers were endowed to her. She could used Ninja Costume ( the costumes the Rangers used to fight tengas) and the full Pink Powers. Kat also has some lingering effects from the speell Rita cast on her allowing her to hear one of his Rita's plans. But other than that she was pretty much free to continue on as a normal human ( as normal as being a Power Ranger can be). At times Kat was very reluctant in battle and got very worried when something went wrong. A few times Zordon had to calm her down and remind her to have faith in herself. One time in particular Kat was building a house for the homeless and was being assisted by her friends. Rita created a monster to turn the Rangers into bricks. Kat escaped and returned to the Command Center with her friends (Billy escaped with Kat and didn't turn into a brick). Kat got very worried and confused. After Zordon calmed her down she was able to focus and helped Billy restore the others back to normal.

Her character was truly tested with the arrival of Rita's father ( Master Vile). In order to get to the Zeo Crystal buried under Zedd and Rita's palace ( before Vile could get to it like he desired) Kat agreed to play a decoy so Tommy could look for the crystal. Kat appeared before Lord Zedd and Rita and pretended she wanted to be evil again. Zedd and Rita told her to enter this machine that would make her evil forever. To keep up the distraction going, Kat did so and found herself trapped as the evil energy engulfed her. As Tommy looked for the Zeo Crystal he found himself seeing allusions of Kat back on the dark side. Tommy was able to obtain the Zeo Crystal and use its pure good power to free Kat from the evil making machine. The two Rangers escaped brining the Falcon Zord ( in which Kat helped to capture when she was under Rita's spell.) Unfortuantly Vile captured the zords and the cyrstal after the ensuing battle. Kat and her friends were able to get to the crystal and retake their zords. Kat was nervous through the whole battle but she stayed with her friends and saw it through. Once Vile's plans was defeated and the Rangers were able to relax, Kat revealed to Tommy that she felt confident in herself as a Ranger. She knew she could do it now and it wasn't so scary. From this pont we saw a much more confident Kat that wasn/t so insecure. In fact she was beginning become a strong willed person and a great Power Ranger.

The Rangers took Kat to an amusement park for her birthday as a surprise. Unfortuantly Vile crashed their little celebration and used his evil magic to turn the timeline of earth back to the past. Kat and the other Rangers became children without access to their morphing powers. Luckly their Ninja Power Cions allowed themsleves to remember who they were and they did not totally revert to their childhood. The Rangers were able to use their smarts to defeat Zedd and Rita's tengas ( Vile eventually left). Unfortunaly they were taken to safey by the police against their will. Tommy and Kat hid from the police. Kat (standing on top of Tommy) was able to free the others by pretending to be Billy's mom. Once back at the Command Center the Rangers were able to find allies in the Alien Rangers, who helped them defend the Earth. Kat and the others tried to help their new friends as best they could. Kat and her firends lost the power cions when Zedd and Rita stoled them. Zedd and Rita destoryed the Power Cions promptly, leaving the Rangers powerless permeantly. But the Alien Ranger's still remained to help the kids aganst Zedd and Rita.

During this Alien Ranegr saga the Earth Rangers were sent though time and space to search for the zeo crystal shards( they had hid them from Vile by splitting them into five peices, scatering them through time and space). Kat was sent to her native Austriala on her jouney. There she meant her adult self and elderly self. Instead of going with her adult self ( who promised she knew where the crystal was ) she chose to help her elderly self get home. By doing this she knew her adult self would not be able to help her. After selflessly helping the old version of herself it was revealed that the Zeo Subcrystal was in the old ladies home. Kat recieved the crystal as a reward fo her generoisty and returned home.

Once the Zeo Crystal was reassembled the timeline was restored, allowing Kat and her friends to become teenagers again. Unfortunatly, the Command Center was blown up (as part of Zedd and Rita's plans). Thankfully, the Rangers teleported out of the Command Center before the explosion. They also found the Zeo Crystal among the Command Center's wreakage. They found a hidden chamber to the Command Center( which promply rebuilt itself). This new incarnation of the Command Center was known as the Power Chamber. They discovered Alpha andd Zordon to be alright as well. A new threat had a emerged in the Machine Empire. The Rangers were given new Zeo powers from each of their zeo shards. Kat became Zeo Ranger 1 pink. Along with her friends she was able to thwart King Mondo's first assualt.

Kat was given her own Zeo Zord along with the rest of her friends, With this Zeo Zord she was able to form the Zeo Megazord ( a long with her friends zords). Kat became stronger than ever with her new Zeo Powers and new confident attitude. She allowed a new Ranger named Tonya to stay with her family for the school year. Kat still had feelings for Tommy. One time she even worked with him on a mock parenting project at school. Her feelings for Tommy were demonstrated the most when Tommy recieved a note telling him Kim had broken up with him. Kat did all she could to cheer Tommy up. She took him to a ski resort with Billy. There Tommy meant a new girl who he seemed to fancy. Unfortunatly the Rangers had to return home due to King Mondo's latest plan. Kat felt bad for Tommy . Instead of trying to horn in and take advantage of him, Kat had a better idea. She decided to turn the juice bar into a pretend fancy resturant and get Tommy together wth this new girl. She put her desires aside and only cared for Tommy's happiness. The plan didn't work as Tommy was forced to ditch the girl to help the Rangers. The girl didn't understand and wasn't there when Tommy got back to the jiuce bar. Kat felt bad that it didn't work out but was give a thank you by Tommy. The two danced afterwards and became closer friends than ever.

Katherine became activily involve in dance and taught a class of young children to dance. She welcomed Jason to the team along with everyone else (when he became the Gold Ranger). She recieved the Pink Super Zeo Zord from Jason's Gold Ranger predessor, Trey. When Tommy was in trouble and captured by the evil Prince Gasket. It was her and Jason that were the most worried about him. They found Tommy with amnesia in one of Gaskets demensions. Tommy had bein lied to that the Rangers were evil. Kat demorphed and tried to convince him that they were his friends. The other Rangers followed suit. Kat's plan worked and Tommy was able to regain his memories and rejion the Rangers.

Kat made a purse in art class that she thought was ugly. This took a back burner as Billy began to rapidly age and the Rangers needed to help him. A returning Rita turned the purse into a monster ( whiby accident while tring to turn Kat evil). The Rangers were able to defeat the monster. With the help of the alien Rangers they foiled the Machine Empires latest plan. Billy was soon returned to normal and Kat realized that the purse didn't matter. She couldn't be good at evetything and it was fine ito make mistakes.

Later on during one of Kat's dance classes Tommy finally asked Kat on a date. The two finally were able to have a fun time together as a couple. It should be noted that in the Zeo christmass episode we see an old version of Tommy telling his grandson a story. At the end we see Kat as an old woman and Tommy's wife.

When Legoriot arrived on Earth running from Divatox (an evil space pirate). Tommy and Kat went to the jungle to find the alien. Kat fell down a water fall and only survived by using her zeo powers. She broke her leg but it was later healed by Lergiot's magic. During the battle with Divatox, Kat recieved new Turbo Rangers with the rest of her friends. She gained use of her own Turbo Zord. Kat became a big influence on a new Ranger. This Ranger was a kid named Justin, who was in the custodoy of social services. Kat and Tonya had been on a buss trip with Justin and the orphan kids. The Rangers were trying to do a fundraiser to save Justin's orphange. After the end of the battle the Rangers were able to complete that fundraiser.

In addtion to her duties as a power ranger Kat became a student teacher at Angel Grove High. Kat tried to get into a prestigous dance school. She was able to get in for the fall semester but wondered if she should leave her duties as a Ranger when the time came. As time passed it soon became aparent that the decison would be made for Kat. The Rangers had reached the age of retirement and were supposed to chose new teenagers to take there place. Tommy and Kat were on there way to a camping trip that was supposed to celebrate this big occation. Unfortunatly, Tommy was captured by Divatox's forces. Luckly two new teens named TJ and Cassie were able to help Kat fight of the villians. When Tommy was saved and Divatox's plan was defeated, it was finally time for the Rangers to give up their powers. Kat chose Cassie to take her place as the Pink Ranger. This was the last we heard from Katherine HiIlard. According to the Fox Kids website she went on to become a Environmental Attorney.

Katherine Hillard started out as just pawn for evil. After she was freed and became a Ranger she was very insecure. She had to stuggle to have the confidence to complete her Ranger duties. But becoming a Ranger changed her and made her the confident women we saw her as in Zeo and Turbo. She was a worthy replacement for the Kimberly character and actually is held to more importance by a select group of Power Rangers fans ). The Katherine character is diffinity one of the best of early Power Rangers.
