Jason is one of the most admired Power Rangers. Next to Tommy is probably one of the most reconizable male ranger names in the fanbase. Although he may have not been on the show as long as some of his peers he is still is widly respected. Jason was played by Austin St. John.
Jason was selected to be the Red Ranger by Zordon. He drew power from the Tranasuarus Dinosuar and piolets the Tranasuras Dinozord. Jason was made leader of the oringal ranger team. Jason like his firends was reluctant to be a Ranger at first. Although he seemed mildly interested in the idea. Once pushed into the role Jason did well and agreed to protect the uiniverse as leader of the Power Rangers. Jason quickly became a great leader for the team. Jason was a master at Karate and was a teacher to many other teens and young children. His surprior martial arts knowledge a long with his smarts as leader helped him to defeat many of Rita's monsters.
After a few battles Jason soon meant his match. He tied with a new kid named Tommy during a matial arts match. Tommy soon fell under the evil spell of Rita and became the evil Green Ranger. With Zordon missing Jason had to help keep the team together during the hard times they faced against the Green Ranger. Jason even found himself battling Goldar in Rita's Dark Demension during the trials. The Green Ranger soon relieved Goldar of his duties and began to fight Jason unmorphed. Fortunaly the Rangers were able to bring Jason back to the Command Center. Once they found out the Green Rangers true identiy (and Zordon was back) the Rangers new what they had to do. They had to destory Tommy's evil sword to free him from the spell Rita cast. Jason fought Tommy in hand to hand combat and was able to get his sword away from him. Jason used his blade blaster to destory the sword. Tommy was freed of Rita's spell and Jason asked him to jion the team.
Jason and Tommy had trouble working together at first but quickly became great friends. When Tommy's powers were threatened by the Green Candle Jason hurried to Rita's Dark Demension to destory the candle. Unfortunatly he was forced to fight Goldar. Jason had to retreat so he could help his friends save Tommy from one of Rita's monsters. The Green Candle burnt out and Tommy lost his powers. Jason would always feel guilty about not getting to the candle in time. Tommy didn't blame Jason at all and gave what was left of his powers to Jason. When in battle Jason could call upon Tommy's old battle shield and call forth the powerful Dragonzord. Jason did his best to continue to lead the team.
Rita captured the Rangers parents and blackmailed them for there power coins. The Ranger turned their power coins over to Goldar. Jason however still had the Green Ranger Power. Tommy took the power cion and got the rangers coins back ( while gaining a temporay power boast to allow him to rejion the team). Jason was happy for his firend and wanted to see him stay permenantly.
When Lord Zedd came the rangers dinozord were destoryed. Jason and Tommey's dinozords were taken over and used for evil. The Rangers were abel to regain control of their zord and reconfigured them into their new Thunderzords. Jason was given the Red Dragon Thunderzord. These new zords could match zedd' monsters and combined to form the Thunder Megazord.
Once Tommy lost his powers for good Jason became depressed and felt guilty that Tommy wasn't one of them because he failed to get the Green Candle. Zedd made five candles to drain the remaining Ranger's powers. All the rangers except Jason were captured. Jason was able to save his friends and stop them from losing their powers. He than found out Tommy didn't blame him from losing his powers. This made Jason feel better. He went on to win a martial arts tournment.
Jason wad overjoyed when he found out Tommy returned to the team to become the new White Ranger. Tommey became the new leader of the Power Rangers. Jason didn't care that he wasn't leader anymore, he was just glad to have his friend back. Jason was selected on with Zack and Trini to go to an Angel Grove peace conference. Jason went on one last mssion with his friends to retrieve the Sword of Power. This allowed him to transfer his powers to Rocky. Jason than left for the Peace Conference. This was not the end of Jason's story.
A few years later after the Rangers had found their Zeo powers. Jason had retuned from the Peace Conference. Tommey selected him to take the place of the injured Gold Ranger (till the alien could fix his situation). Jason took the powers without hesitation and felt good to be back on the team. Jason commanded the powerful Worrier Wheel and the Prymidous Carrier Zord. He was reunited with Tommy and Billy and gto aquinted with the new members of the team. Jason fit in well as Sixth Ranger and promised Tommey he would not try to become leader again. Jason did lead the team while Tommy was captured. Jason meant a girl name Emily and became close firends with her.
Jason's time as Gold Ranger came to an end when the powers began to take a toll on his human body. In a dangerous experiment the Rangers were able to fix Trey's problem and allow him to take the Gold Powers back from Jason. Jason watched as his friends defeat the Machine King in battle. Tommy made sure Jason was ok with losing his powers. Jason said he was fine and walked off into the sunset with Emily.
Months later Jason was hanging with Kimberly. Kim was surprising everyone with the return visit. The two friends were captured by a new villian named Divatox. Divatox planned to use them as a sacrifice to a powerful Demon named Maligore. The two former Rangers tried to escape but were only recaptured by Mailgore's followers. The two were sacrificed to Malgore and became his unwilling slaves. Jason and Kim fought the Rangers ( who now had Turbo Power). The two were brought back to the good side by a powerful wizard the Rangers had befriended. Jason and Kim helped the wizard and his family escapefrom Divatox while the Turbo Rangers saved the day. Jason took the injured Rocky's place in a martial arts tournament. Jason, Tommy, and Adam won their tournament and donated the money to an orphanage.
About five or six years later Jason was again called into service by Tommy. Tommy had gather together all the Red Rangers of the past, present and future to battle the remnants of the evil Machine Empire. They were unearthing the evil Surpenterra (Zedd's old Zord). Jason helped the other Red Rangers using his old Tranasuarus powers. This was Jason's final battle as a Power Ranger to date. It is beleived that Tommy and Jason had a fallen out in between Jason's Gold Ranger time and the battle in Forever Red. What ever the problem Tommy and Jason had they seemed to make admends enough to work together.
Jason was a silent, nice, and rather cunning worrier. Jason's time as a Ranger helped him shine as a hero and gave him the opertunity to save the world. Jason proved to be a great leader and a good friend. His time as a Ranger taught Jason that he couldn't save the world alone and that everything wasn't his fault. He learned to never give up on anything.
