Special Thanks to RangerKing for conducting this interview. I can't take any credit for it. You can go to RangerKing's site at this address. Its a new site but he has some good ideas.
1. What was it like working with Haim Saban?
Haim was great. A very intelligent man. He knew what he
wanted and if you
delivered what he wanted he left you alone and gave you
great freedom. If
you didn't deliver...well....
2. Was there anything you wished you could have done differently with PR?
Of course. I especially hated the way it ended for
all of us who worked on
it for so long and were just dumped.
3. The biggest question that everyone wants to know...
Who is the Phantom
Ranger?
Goldar, of course....
4. Was there supposed to be extra footage for Countdown to Destruction?
There was always extra footage, it's just a matter of
if we had time to get
it into the show or not.
5. What do you think of seasons after Wild Force?
I thought that the few episodes that I saw were well written,
but to me they
looked bad, sounded awful and (of course) the ADR (voice
oer work) was not
very good at all. It may have gotten better since.
6. Do you support Doug Sloan and Ann Knapp (Austen) as
the new excutive
producers for Power Rangers Ninja Storm and Power Rangers
Dino Thunder?
Doug and Ann are good friends of mine and I couldn't be
anything but happy
for them. They tried many times (unsuccessfully) to get
me back on the show
but it (obviously) didn't happen.
7. What was your favorite episode of Power Rangers.
I liked a few episodes of Turbo, 196 & 197, King for
A Day 1 & 2. It was all
ADR, so of course I liked it. I really felt that we got
great performances
out of Jason Frank and Doug Sloan. It really made the
episodes for me. I
liked part of a lot of episodes, it just kind of all
blurs together after
456 episodes (not including, BeetleBorgs, VR Troopers,
Masked Rider and
Mystic Knights!!).
8. Was it nerve racking working on three Saban TV Shows at one time?
At times. It was very hectic, but I had a lot of good
people working with
me, David Walsh of course, Suzi Shimoyama, plus my additional
engineers and
directors. Laura Orozco replaced Suzi and was a great
help too !!
9. If you could have or wanted to would you still be on
the Power Rangers
Production Crew even though it has moved to New Zealand?
I would have liked to have been involved, especially in
New Zealand. I think
I could've helped.
10. Do you plan to return to Power Rangers sometime in the future?
I don't rule it out, but it's not a priority.
11. What was your favorite season and episode of Masked Rider?
None.
12. What was your favorite season of Power Rangers?
I got along best with the cast of Lightspeed Rescue, still
in touch with a
lot of them, but in terms of actual seasons...I liked
the early stuff for
campiness and pure fun, I liked the look of the last
few seasons (that I was
involved in) but the story lines I did not agree with.
Too military and too
mushy for the age groups that the show was designed for
in my opinion
13. What was your favorite season and episode of Beetle Borgs?
I liked the 2nd season, it was a little more defined.
There was one episode
where the monsters were all interviewing Wolfy like a
congressional hearing,
that was funny. And of course, I was in one of the episodes
so it had to be
good, though I liked Wolfy's voice better in the first
season....just
kidding Frank!!
Glad to answer any questions, and thanks to the fans for all the support !!
Thanks for doing this.
Sincerly,
Matthew
