1. Power Rangers In
Space introduced us to New Red
Ranger Andros,
played by Christopher Hayman Lee. Melody Perkins jioned the cast
to replace Hillary Shepard Turner's Divatox character. She played
the villianess Astronoma. All past pr villans would make cameos in
Space for the most part, as well as their Master Dark Spector. Bob
Manhahan would make cameos as Zordon as well. Later on Justin
Nimeo, would play Zhane, the Silver Ranger . PRIS would gets its
footage from
Megaranger.
2. PRIS is home to the first and only cross
over between
the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers.
3. Johnny Young Boshe would return for a guest
apearance during
space. This could have been in part to show apreciation for agreeing
to stay for the rest of turbo before he was dropped.
4. Power Rangers In Space seemed to shift
Power Rangers to
a
more serious tone. This could be attributed to new story editors Judd
Lynn and Jackie Merciand. Judd later claimed that the first thing he
did after taking over the story editor job mid turbo was fine
tune some of the writing. This invloved him writing many episodes of
the series himself for the remainder of his run on the show. This
is unparallelled in the tv business. Jackie Merciand also carried
a big load The producer, Johnathon Tazchar had obtained sole showrunner
power over the show. That heavily attributed to the new direction as
well.. Trazchar wasn't a writer but always was there to
run the show .
5. Countdown to Destruction aparantly was
originally
supposed to be a three parter. Aparently the original version would
have had Andros and Ashley kiss on screen. There also would have been a
battle between Zhane and Elgar. Some think the idenity of the Phantom
Ranger would have been revealed, but no such scene was ever
filmed. It wouldn't have been anyone
we know just a stunt actor. Some say the Phantom Ranger was the essense
of
every Power Ranger. Their is no clear cut answer to what the Phantom
really was other than he is not a past Ranger. He was just
some random do
gooder from Eltar.
6. Countdown to Destruction can be seen as a
major turning
piont for Power Rangers. It cleaned up past storylines and set the
stage
for a complete start over. It was probably the most epic thing ever
tried in the show's history up to that piont. It set up the traditional
end of season fanile PR would have ever year after. It also made
Space the first Power Rangers season to have biginning, middle, and
end. All this set the tone for the sentai like method of changing
casts every
year.
